Part 1 covers Individuals. Part 2 covers Businesses. Part 3 covers Representation, Practices and Procedures. You can schedule them in any order.
The current testing window
Domestic candidates can test from July 1, 2026 through February 28, 2027. International testing begins September 1, 2026. The usual March and April blackout allows the exam to be updated.
PSI is the testing vendor
PSI replaced Prometric effective March 1, 2026. Candidates now create their profile and schedule through PSI. Older Prometric instructions should not be used.

How many questions are on the EA exam?
Each part has 100 questions. The IRS says 85 are scored and 15 are experimental, non-scored questions.
How long is each EA exam part?
Each part allows 3.5 hours of testing time. Total seat time is four hours including the tutorial, survey, and two scheduled breaks.
Is Prometric still used for the EA exam?
No. PSI replaced Prometric as the EA-SEE vendor effective March 1, 2026.
